There are many options to choose from when it comes to a mobile home AC unit. Manufacturers like Trane, Lennox, Goodman, and others offer packaged units as well as traditional split systems suitable for a mobile home. Here are some of our favorites:

The GPC can be used where an alternate source of heat, such as a wood stove, is used. The unit offers 13 SEER cooling and is not Energy Star rated. The Trane model is relatively efficient at 14.5 SEER. It features a compressor with a proven track record for durability, low noise, and good performance. This single-stage model, but Trane does offer two-stage models. This unit works well in mobile homes because it is high quality and a contractor favorite.

5. Lennox Merit 14ACX Air Conditioner

This is the model most often installed in mobile homes. It offers 14 SEER cooling and is Energy Star rated. The single-stage compressor delivers basic cooling, although Lennox does offer 2-stage models as well (not all of them are suitable for manufactured home use). Lennox has a quality compressor that makes it one of the best in the industry. It is on the loud side at 76 decibels, but not by much. The louvered outdoor coil guard protects against yard debris and other hazards. A 5-year compressor and parts warranty is standard for models in this class.

6. York Latitude TCGF Air Conditioner

This relatively efficient 14.5 SEER model is a single-stage unit that is best in milder climates or for short-term use. Choose a more efficient model if you plan to stay in your home for more than 10 years, which is true for all of the units in this list. This unit features a micro-channel design that increases the surface area of the coil to foster faster cooling. Models from 1.5 to 5.0 tons are available, and all use ecofriendly R-410A refrigerant.

This is another Energy Star rated yet affordable 14.5 SEER unit. It’s a single-stage model with a direct drive fan that runs quietly. The 10-year compressor and parts warranty on this unit is generous, but those sold online do not come with a warranty.
