SPICE IT UP
Spicy food causes you to sweat without raising body temperatures – and sweat is your body’s natural AC. Don’t go too crazy but a little spice will keep you cool.
BE THE COLD
Use the power of your mind to cool your body. Think cool thoughts – of winter, snow, and ice – whatever it is that gives you the chills. The mind is a powerful thing, indeed.
SHUT IT DOWN
Keep all windows and doors closed and blinds shut during the hottest times of the day. This can reduce the amount of heat that passes into your home by 45%.
WATER FOR LIFE
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Drink cold water frequently to keep your body from warming up due to dehydration.
BE LAZY, ORDER OUT
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT turn on your oven when it’s hot out. Instead, make an excuse to go out or have a fun BBQ.
TAKE A NICE SOAK
Your feet actually play a large role in keeping your body cold. Fill up a small tub with ice water to soak your feet to cool down.
Keep a spray bottle in the fridge to cool you down quick. This is a fast, easy way to cool down after being outside..
COOL KID CLOTHES
It’s a fact that light colors reflect heat and dark color absorb it. So wear light clothes in the summer to avoid soaking up excess heat.
DOUBLE MINT FRESH
Menthol products are great at cooling the skin. Use lotions or soaps with peppermint for a nice cooling sensation.
Cold compresses are an easy way to cool the body down quickly. Simply dip a rag in ice water and then place on the back of your neck or forehead.
SHOWERS FOR DAYS
Sometimes it’s as simple as taking a cold shower to cool you down on those hot days. This is incredibly effective right before bedtime.
POPSICLES? YES PLEASE
An easy hack to stay cool is to eat cold foods. A great excuse to stock your freezer with popsicles or other frozen treats. Treat yourself!
JUST SAY NO
Drinks that contain alcohol, sugar, and/or caffeine cause you to dehydrate fast – raising your body temperature. Remember: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
If you have this option I suggest going for it. Painting your roof or house white can be very effective in keeping your house cool in the summer.
Eating smaller meals spaced out throughout the day helps to regulate your metabolism and keep your body temperatures from spiking (No, we didn’t say bagel bites).
